3 Expensive Items You Can Still Farm In World Of Warcraft

Farm Type Rare Drop / Transmog / Old ContentDifficulty Easy mechanically, high RNG financially

Target Items

  • Advanced Flatbow
  • Crested Scepter
  • Blade of Wizardry

Guide Summary

This gold farm focuses on three older World of Warcraft items that can still sell for strong gold because of their rarity, appearance, and transmog value. The video walks through three separate old-content farms: Gundrak for the Advanced Flatbow, Blackfathom Deeps for the Crested Scepter, and Karazhan for the Blade of Wizardry.

The strategy is simple: use a high-level character, run old content quickly, kill dense packs of mobs that can drop the target item, loot everything, reset where possible, and list the valuable drops on the Auction House as long-tail transmog inventory.

This farm is best for players who already understand that expensive transmog does not always sell instantly. The upside is high-ticket sales. The downside is RNG and waiting for the right buyer.

Item 1: Advanced Flatbow Farm

Target item: Advanced Flatbow — a bind-on-equip green bow with a high auction-house value because of its rarity and transmog appeal.

Location: Gundrak (Zul'Drak, Northrend)

Travel to Zul'Drak in Northrend and enter Gundrak. Once inside, clear the dungeon trash as quickly as possible. The goal is not boss loot — it is killing enough eligible mobs to create chances at the rare BoE item drop.

Use a fast, high-level character that can one-shot mobs and move quickly between packs. Loot everything, because the value comes from rare green/blue drops and transmog items, not from vendor trash. Start at the entrance and move through the dungeon in a clean loop, pulling groups aggressively. After the clear, leave the dungeon and reset if possible, keeping an eye on the hourly instance cap.

Item 2: Crested Scepter Farm

Target item: Crested Scepter — a bind-on-equip one-handed mace with a rare low-level transmog value profile.

Location: Blackfathom Deeps (Ashenvale, Kalimdor)

Travel to Ashenvale and enter Blackfathom Deeps. Clear the early dungeon mobs and continue through the cave-style route. Low-level greens can be deceptively valuable because many are uncommon, no longer commonly farmed, and used by transmog collectors.

Focus on speed. You are not farming boss mechanics — you are farming mob volume. After the run, reset and repeat if the dungeon reset rules allow it, and watch the instance cap.

Item 3: Blade of Wizardry Farm

Target item: Blade of Wizardry — an older epic one-handed sword with collector and transmog appeal.

Location: Karazhan (Deadwind Pass, Eastern Kingdoms)

Travel to Deadwind Pass and enter Karazhan. Clear trash packs through the entrance and ballroom-style interior areas — dense trash packs create more drop chances. The value comes from repeated kills, not boss loot.

Be careful with current lockout rules. Karazhan is raid content, so reset behavior may not work exactly like normal dungeons. Do not build the farm around guaranteed unlimited resets — treat each clear as a chance at rare BoE drops.

Auction House Strategy

These farms are not about guaranteed gold per hour. They are about building a portfolio of rare items that can sell for large amounts over time. The biggest mistake is treating these drops like fast-moving commodities. They are collector items, not raw materials.

Use this selling model:

  1. Farm the item.
  2. Check market value.
  3. List at a premium but realistic price.
  4. Repost consistently.
  5. Keep farming other rare items while waiting for sales.

A player with only one rare item listed may get frustrated. A player with hundreds of rare transmog items listed has a much better chance of regular sales.

Recommended Character Setup

Use a high-level character that can clear old content fast. Best traits include fast movement speed, instant or low-cooldown AoE, easy dungeon mobility, empty bags, and quick access to a vendor or mailbox. Good farming classes generally include druids, demon hunters, hunters, monks, and other mobile classes.

Who This Farm Is Best For

This farm is best for transmog sellers, auction-house players, collectors, players who enjoy old-content farming, and anyone comfortable building long-term inventory and waiting for sales. It is not ideal for players who need instant gold today, hate RNG, or expect every run to produce a jackpot.
